Olympic Legacy Pool for Sparkhill Leisure Centre

Pellikaan working with Places for People Leisure has been selected to develop the new Sparkhill Leisure Centre in Birmingham owned by Birmingham City Council.  Earlier this week Places for People Leisure signed a 15 year contract with Birmingham City Council for the design, construction, maintenance and operation of the leisure centre, which will see Pellikaan as the leading building contractor.

The new leisure centre will feature a state of the art Olympic Legacy Swimming Pool. A stainless steel panel pool it will become the 25 metre main pool at the Leisure Centre, and was one of nine swimming pools used across London by the Olympic and Paralympic Athletes during the 2012 games, which were dismantled after the games. The inclusion of this pool in the new Sparkhill Leisure Centre represents a fantastic opportunity for the community, and will see the Olympic Legacy continued within Birmingham.

The Sparkhill Leisure Centre will also include a learner pool, gym, studio and spinning studio. Construction is scheduled to start in April 2016, with opening planned for the summer 2017.
