Topping out Villa Flora

The concrete is installed, the steel is erected and the roof is closed: the special exhibition building Villa Flora is taking shape! The installation of the parabolic roofing elements, which give the building its landmark quality, the highest point in construction was reached. That was celebrated with many guests and press on 8 April.

The design by architect Jón Kristinsson is based on the cradle-to-cradle principle. The many sustainable elements of Villa Flora were translated to practical solutions by Pellikaan. These are now under construction. All innovative solutions, the used materials and green fittings and decorations make Villa Flora a pleasant, healthy and green place to work.

The high, large greenhouse offers 7,500 m² exhibition space for the World Horticultural Expo „Floriade 2012“. This part of the building was erected in steel and glass. In addition 3,500 m² office space is created on five floors - made of prefab concrete. The particular shape of the building enables optimum use of solar heat.

After Floriade 2012, the exhibition building will be used for office space. Several companies have already committed to renting office space here.
