Tree for highest point in Wyre Forest

Wyre Forest's new leisure centre gained an additional feature when a tree was placed on its roof.

The addition of a Birch tree was part of a ceremony to mark reaching the highest point of the build on the former British Sugar site at Silverwoods, on the Stourport Road between Kidderminster and Stourport. Celebrating the moment a new building reaches its topmost point with a tree planting is an old age tradition in other parts of Europe to bestow good luck on it. When the building is complete the tree will be planted in the grounds surrounding the centre as part of the landscaping scheme.
