When the temperature allows it, the largest open-air roof in Europe can be opened within 3 minutes. In Stadthagen, Germany, half of the 1600 square meter polycarbonate roof at the Tropicana Aqua and Wellness Centre can be opened and closed. With 750 square meters of water surface and an extensive wellness offer, some 300,000 visitors a year will be attracted. An other technical highlight is the use of biogas for heating purposes; this ensures a 20reduction of energy costs.

The centre is separated in a leisure and a wellness side. The enormous roof surface inspired the designers to create a Caribbean atmosphere in the Aqua part of the centre. Palm trees, jungle huts, a waterfall, fountains and bright colours provide the holiday spirit, even on rainy days.

In addition to the leisure pool and slides an the Aqua part, the Wellness part offer a variety of facilities including 9 indoor and outdoor sauna's, Razul, Hamam and various massage and treatment rooms. The many exotic-style relax areas and restaurant provide for sufficient rest possibilities.
